The sensors
Kristina used were the following:
- TiltSensor? (e.g. in a hat)
- LightSensor? (e.g. in a bag)
- ExpansionSensor? (e.g. in suspenders)
- DistanceSensor? - Sonar (e.g. in the sleeves of two jackets)
- PressureSensor? (e.g. on the tip of an umbrella)
- AccelerationSensor? (e.g in a skirt)
(look
here for a picture of those sensors in combination with the examples.

The sensors are simply broken out of usb devices as a gamepad, joystick, etc ... These devices are very cheap (<25 Euro), contain multiple sensors and would be used in combination with the junXion
SoftWare. The sensors can be with or without a wire. However it is not feasible to use bluetooth interfaces as their response is not quick enough if there is more than one bluetooth device (it is a serial rather than a parallel technique).
for an idea of how to connect them see the
Whisper technical drawing.
Steim is now developing a hardware interface which would allow 16 analog inputs to be translated into usb. The device would cost 50 euro, it would be available in fall 2004. They are also working on a wireless version of this but it still has a delay of 0.5 sec which is too long for realtime performance.
De sensoren kunnen de volgende waarnemingen beinvloeden:
- visueel
- auditief
- optische illusies (bv springen)
- geuren en kleuren
Opmerkingen mogelijkheden van de Sensoren:
- Warmte en vocht zijn traag
- Geur iets sneller maar blijft hangen
- Geluid en video snel en makkelijk te presenteren en te manipuleren
