On 1 February 1953 the Netherlands faced a huge flood, which is commonly remembered as ‘the disaster’ (de ramp).
Since 2009 all the names of the victims of the flood can be found on the website deramp.nl, including their date of birth and town of birth. Moreover, relatives and friends can add their memories about the victims.
The website is a place where all the different stories and pictures of the victims are collected. A selection of these stories have been narrated and can be listened to in the monument 1835+1. The visitor can listen to the stories once the name of the victim has been spoken. The monument is part of the new Watersnoodmuseum in Ouwerkerk. The interactive installation is a homage to the many victims of the flood.
I made the website together with Roel Wouters.
